At ToolExchange we work closely with the police and other agencies to ensure we never knowingly purchase stolen tools.

We are a registered user of the Police NMPR national database via the CheckMend system. This allows us to check the serial number of every tool that comes into our depot against the national NMPR database. If a stolen serial number shows up, we will confiscate the tool and notify the NMPR system that we are in possession of a suspicious item. It can then subsequently be repatriated with its rightful owner and the sender is easily traced.

We work closely with enforcement agencies to ensure all tools stay with their rightful owner. This extensive cross-referencing system uses ‘Report My Loss’ and ‘Immobilise’ alongside CheckMend to ensure everything we buy is legitimate. We also support #TagThatTool.

Our stringent checking process ensures that we can prevent ANY registered stolen tool from passing our security standards.

By enforcing the need to provide us with a contact phone number, full name, email address AND physical address, coupled with our serial number checks, the chances of stolen goods passing through our hands are eradicated.

It’s also fair to say that if somebody was inclined to steal power tools to resell then they would likely do it via a platform where a paper-trail isn’t required. Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Boot Sales, Gumtree, all these avenues to sell stolen goods do not require the tight restrictions we have in place to ensure a safe buying and selling environment.
